Male Land-based Mentorship
Activities may include Elder’s teachings, assisting elders with their gardens, participating in ceremonies, and helping around the community. Participants can engage in medicine harvesting, crafting, beading, sewing, singing, dance practice and teaching, hide tanning, mentorship, cultural teachings, storytelling, and sharing circles. They will also learn practical skills such as using an axe and chainsaw, chopping and hauling wood, gathering rocks, and harvesting wild game for elders.
About Program
The program is open to individuals aged 14 and older, who can sign up as either a mentor or mentee. The programming schedule runs from Thursday to Monday, 12 noon to 8:00 pm, with drinks and lunch provided daily, along with transportation. This educational program will continue until Friday, August 30th, 2024. Each day will feature different land-based and hands-on teachings. There is no cost to join the program, and participants will receive incentives during and at the end of the program. Attendance will be recorded, with every 10th session attended earning a reward.
